Capitalism must reform or risk social breakdown – McCluskey

Unite general secretary Len McCluskey will this evening warn that capitalism needs to reform or risk social breakdown, when he delivers the Ralph Miliband lecture.

The public lecture titled The Labour movement and protest – a working class politics for the 21st century takes place at 6.30pm at the London School of Economics.

The lecture comes as the Labour movement starts to put itself once more at the heart of British politics in the wake of the economic crisis, with two huge demonstrations and a massive strike in the last eighteen months.

In the lecture, Len McCluskey will also urge the Labour movement to link up with the social protest movement in a new way to affect change, uniting its traditional strengths with the energy and vision of groups like UK Uncut and Occupy.
